PIMA COTTON (GOSSYPIUM BARBADENSE L.) LINES ASSESSMENT FOR DROUGHT TOLERANCE IN UZBEKISTAN

Globally, increasing water and energy demand is expected to reach 6.9 trillion cubic meters by 2030, exceeding 40% of the available supplies. Climate change rising temperatures caused shortages due lesser irregular rainfalls, leading lower production crops. The research assess drought tolerance Pima cotton (Gossypium barbadense. L) lines in Uzbekistan revealed line, T-450 as most promising for environments. research, a randomized complete block design (RCBD) three replications with factorial arrangement two irrigation regimes (non-stress stress at seedling stage), was conducted experimental field Institute Genetics Plant Experimental Biology, District Zangi-Ota, Tashkent Region, Uzbekistan. Nine lines, i.e., Сурхон-14 (control cultivar), Т-1, Т-5440, Т-2006, Т-10, Т-167, Т-5445, Т-450, Т-663 diverse agronomic characters, were selected their potential yield during 2019, 2020, 2021 cropping seasons under different environments (optimal deficit condition). Drought indices significant differences among except golden mean (GM). Results ranking method indicate that indices, productivity (MP), geometric (GMP), index (STI), relative performance (MRP), efficiency (REI), (RDY), show suitable indicators because high correlation seed yield. Cluster analysis three-dimensional plots showed inbred highest both conditions. first principal components (PCs) explained 67.54% total variation PC1 can be nominated potentially stable biplot diagram based on PCs MP, GMP, STI, MRP, REI, YI best screening tolerant such as, T-450.
